Psalms 103:17-18 says, “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His commandments to do them.” The definition of mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. Jesus came to this earth to reveal God the Father’s nature and will as well as to ultimately take our place on the cross. Jesus showed mercy to many who were affliced during His ministry yeas, including how He dealt with the woman caught in the act of adultery. Instead of condemning her. which He had the power to do, He showed her mercy. Ultimately Jesus has shown all of us mercy through taking our punishment on the cross for us.
