Faith

Why do we teach faith: Part 2

Why do we teach faith? Another reason is found in Hebrews 10:38 “Now the just shall live by faith.” The people referred to in this passage are those who are made righteous or ones that God has declared or pronounced to be innocent, faultless, and guiltless, therefore needing “no rectification in the heart or life” (Strongs Concordance). Although the Bible make clear this truth, many Christians carry guilt and shame and struggle in their minds even though they have been set free by the blood of Jesus. You can step into New Covenant living by every day putting your faith in Jesus. His righteousness belongs to you! (Romans 4:23-25)

Why do we teach faith: Part 1

Why do we teach faith? The greatest reason is found in Hebrews 11:6 EXB: “Without faith no one can please God.” If there were no other reasons, that would be enough, but that verse further explains: “[For; Because] Anyone who comes to God must believe that he ·is real [exists] and that he rewards those who ·truly want to find [earnestly/sincerely seek] him.” So really their are huge benefits from pleasing God in this way. So yes, faith people may be ridiculed and maligned, and it sometimes seems that others would rather we teach doubt and unbelief. In the end that makes no difference, because it’s God we serve and not the shifting views of the critics. Throughout the Bible God always commended people of faith. So let’s join them and press on.

Prayer that Brings Results: Part 2

Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people). Ephesians 6:18 (AMPC) Prayer is not a mixed bag, a hit or miss proposition. It is vital to our walk with God and is part of our worship of our Creator. God’s heart for us is to have a fruitful, productive, prayer life that brings results. The activity of the Holy Spirit in our prayer life is the key.

Prayer that Brings Results: Part 1

Jesus taught His disciples that they should expect powerful positive results when praying. “At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” (John 16:23-24) First and foremost, we should determine to pray in line with God’s Word. Today and in the upcoming messages, we are exploring what that entails, praying with confidence in Him.

Prayer Initiatives

James 5:13 says, “Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray.” Many times folks would like to delegate all the prayer business to others. Certainly there is a place for unified concerted prayer. In one place noted in the Book of Acts, even the place where they were praying was shaken from such prayer. But in most cases, God will come to you through your own personal faith. James says, “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” When you develop that kind of prayer life, your prayer with others will be effective and powerful too.

On Building Yourselves Up

Major storms and hurricanes have what are called steering currents. These currents keep the storms moving in a certain direction. Without the steering currents, the storms would be far more dangerous than they are. Your life of faith has a God given divine purpose. However it gets out of control if you lack spiritual steering currents. The book of Jude gives us some great insight into life in the Holy Spirit. Knowing and implementing practical action details is essential to staying on course in your trajectory of faith. Prayer, love, and outreach will steer you well, even when the ship of your life seems to be off course.

The Practice of Rest

Of all the tools given to us as Children of the Most High, rest may be the least used. I am not talking about physical rest and relaxation, but the state of immovable peace and security in the midst of the storm. Jesus was in perfect rest in the Father’s hands when he was sleeping in the boat in the midst of a raging squall (Mark 4:35-41). If rest is being in the same state and mind as Jesus, then it is a great weapon against the enemy. This sermon examines true rest and encourages the people of God to practice it daily and effectively.

Words: Hung by the Tongue

My Fahter's House MFHFW.ORG FORT WAYNE, IN

A group of ministers were discussing the spiritual conditions of our nation. In a recent survey that defined a Christian as being one who believes that the only way to heaven is through Jesus, only 6% agreed. One minister said only a total economic collapse would cause Americans to repent. This pervasive belief is often expressed by evangelicals of every stripe. If it’s true, would Christians just blame the calamity on non-believers? Just maybe the real problem is the believers themselves. Perhaps we’re  Hung by the Tongue. Can a nation really come to God without calamity bringing it to it’s knees? It has happened before.

But Say the Word!

“And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” (James 5:15) Pastor Harley teaches on the Prayer of Faith.

Our words reveal what we believe. “Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:13-15 ESV
